Hi, I’m Alexa and this is a Marketing Minute on getting ahead of industry trends.
Across industries, it is vital to always pay attention and listen to what is going in the industry and what is on the horizon. In order to add value to your own organization and your customers’, you must not only stay up to date on current industry trends and developments, but understand the trends well enough to predict what will happen next, and take action. This will allow you to be an industry leader, pushing your own company, and your customers’ companies, forward.
All the way back in 2011, we helped a healthcare company look forward to the pain points of their customers and solve them before any other healthcare organization could. We launched the We Speak Your Language campaign and helped train all employees to use everyday language instead of confusing healthcare jargon. It completely changed the organization and their customer experience. Healthcare companies that did not see this at the time, are still trying to catch up and modify their jargon to be more customer friendly to this day.
How do you learn about the industries you’re invested in? For starters, you can subscribe to email newsletters and trade journals, participate in forums and discussion boards, attend industry related conferences, browse websites and blogs, activate google alerts and read industry news, listen to podcasts, talk to your industry peers to understand what they are seeing in the market, and stay connected with your customers to understand their pain points that you can help solve.
