AE Marketing Manager, Alexa Jackson, discusses personal branding in today’s Marketing Minute video. From defining your personal mission statement, to deciding the best social media platforms to reach your audience, Alexa discusses how to create and build up your personal brand online.
Hi, I’m Alexa and this is a Marketing Minute on personal brand.
Your personal brand is the way you promote yourself. It is your unique combination of skills, experience, and personality. It is how you tell your story.
So, how do you build up your own personal brand?
First, you must determine your vision for your personal brand. What do you want your personal brand to look like? What do you want to be known for?
Just as companies create mission and vision statements outlining their purpose and goals, you should create your own personal brand mission statement. Determine your skills, personality traits, and passions that will drive your personal brand forward.
Next, determine your target audience. This will be based off of your personal brand vision.
Whether you’re an empowered business executive, and up-and-coming chef, or a proud parent that wants to share parenting advice, your audience will change based on your own interests and what you want to share.
Next, find your point of differentiation. For example, if you are passionate about cooking, what differentiates you from others who share recipes online? Whatever it is, you need to know and make very clear, what differentiates you and then be consistent.
Finally, build your online assets and start curating content to share out. Will you want your own website? What social media channels will be most important to you? Once you find your platform, push authentic content and your audience will take notice.
Thanks for watching and we’ll see you again next time.
