Writing blog posts is a great way to establish thought leadership and better connect with your audience. However, it can be difficult to write blogs that stand out when writing about timely or popular topics. AE Marketing Manager, Alexa Jackson, explains how to write blog posts that stand out from the noise and give your posts a unique angle in this Marketing Minute.
Hi, I’m Alexa and this is a Marketing Minute on writing unique blog posts.
Blog writing is an awesome way for your brand to connect with your audience and share your expertise. However, the tricky thing about blogging is writing a unique story. If you write about a very timely or popular topic, it can be difficult to make your post stand out from everyone else covering the same topic.
At AE, we write a lot of journalism features on our blog about inspiring brands that our team and our customers can learn from – like Restoration Hardware.
A great way we found to differentiate our writing is to come at a story from the unique angle of personal experience. For example, I wrote a blog for AE about the popular travel and luggage brand, Away. While the brand has received a good amount of earned media – including a recent Inc. Magazine cover – I wanted to understand and share the end-to-end customer experience firsthand. So, instead of just writing about the history of Away or product features, I shopped at their store, bought a bag, and took it on multiple overseas trips.
Similarly, I wrote a blog on the cult-like following of fitness brands like Soul cycle, Core Power Yoga, and Orange Theory. All of these brands receive a ton of media attention, but to inform my feature, I sweated it out in each of their classes to see what the hype is all about.
Writing from experience not only gives your pieces the credibility of primary research, it also gives your blog posts a personal touch. You can check out our blog on our website at aemarketinggroup.com.
