AE Marketing Manager, Alexa Jackson, a Millennial herself, shares what her peers look for from their favorite brands in this Marketing Minute. The video helps marketers think less on advertising and more on authenticity and engagement when communicating with Millennials.
Hi, I’m Alexa and this is a Marketing Minute on advertising to Millennials.
As the most educated and mobile generation, millennials may be one of the most difficult markets to target. So, what do we really want to see?
Aside from traditional marketing, be sure to have a strong and consistent social presence. Millennials are likely to follow their favorite brands and find new brands through social media.
Second, provide value to millennial customers. Millennials don’t want to feel like they are being sold to, they want to feel like they are cultivating a relationship with a brand that adds value to some aspect of their lives.
Finally, marketing can only go so far if a brand’s values do not align with the millennials they are trying to reach. Millennials rarely buy a brand’s products or services for the first time without doing their own research through online reviews or word-of-mouth from friends. If a brand is not living up to its marketing promises, millennials will find out.
Thanks for watching and we’ll see you again next time.
